The 105 5800 brake pads, which are also referred to as R55C4, have been made from a proprietary compound that is designed to give you the greatest possible control when stopping your aluminum-rimmed wheels. Whether the road temperature is hot enough to melt the tar, or the rain is coming down in buckets, you will always have the feeling of control that is so essential to pushing your limits.
Each package has two pads for one wheel. If you need to get new pads for both the front and rear wheels, you’ll need two packages. These are just the insert to replace worn pads, so there are no fixing bolts nor brake shoes included. And if you do like to mix and match your equipment, be aware that Shimano does not test its equipment using other manufacturer’s brakes, so they would not recommend you use the R55C4 with any brake shoe other than a Shimano, though the Shimano brake shoe standard is widely used across the industry.
